Mark Trumbo hit his 20th home run, the most by an Angels rookie since Tim Salmon hit 31 home runs in 1993.

It wasn't quite a no-hitter like his last outing, but Ervin Santana put up another impressive performance Tuesday night as the Angels beat the Twins 5-1 to open a six-game homestand in Anaheim. Santana pitched his second straight complete game, striking out seven in the process. Mark Trumbo provided the big blow on offense with a three-run home run.

The win pushed Santana's record to 7-8 on the season, a misleading line since he has pitched well all year. In his last 14 starts, Santana is 6-4 with a 2.49 ERA, averaging over seven innings per start with 82 strikeouts and 27 walks. The Angels are 3-1 against the Twins this season.

Trumbo's home run was his 20th of the season, the most by an Angels rookie since Tim Salmon hit 31 bombs in 1993. Trumbo, who is hitting .255/.298/.485 this season, leads American League rookies in home runs (20), total bases (173), hits (91), doubles (20), runs (43), and RBI (58). Torii Hunter also homered for the Angels, his 14th of the year.

Jered Weaver threw a temper tantrum on Sunday in Detroit, and the price for that tantrum has just been levied. Major League Baseball has suspended the Angels' ace for six games for intentionally throwing at Alex Avila's head in Sunday's loss to the Tigers. Manager Mike Scioscia was also suspended for one game.
↵
Scioscia will serve his suspension tonight as the Angels open a three-game series with the Twins in Angel Stadium in Anaheim. Weaver, however, will appeal his suspension.
↵
At issue on Sunday was Magglio Ordonez standing at home plate to watch his home run in the third inning, though in fairness he claimed he was waiting to see whether the ball was fair or foul. Then in the seventh inning. Carlos Guillen homered and was a tad too celebratory for Weaver's liking; Detroit manager Jim Leyland said Guillen was "styling".
↵
The next batter was Avila, and Weaver threw a ball over his head, which resulted in his ejection. Weaver was also fined an undisclosed amount.
↵
For more news and information on Jered Weaver or the Angels, be sure to follow Halos Heaven.

Ervin Santana takes the mound Tuesday night for the first time since his no-hitter, as the Angels open a three-game series against the Twins in Anaheim. The Angels return home after going 6-4 on their 10-game road trip, and are two games behind Texas for first place in the American League West. The Angels are 13-3 in their last 16 home games.

The no-hitter for Santana capped off an incredible run, as the right-hander has allowed two earned runs or less in seven of his last eight starts. During that span, Santana is 3-2 with a 2.04 ERA, with 11 walks and 49 strikeouts in 57 1/3 innings. The 10 strikeouts in his no-hitter in Cleveland were a season high for Santana.

Left-hander Brian Duensing gets the start for Minnesota, who are 3-4 in the first seven games of their 10-game road trip. The Angels took two of three in Minnesota earlier this season.
