The Dodgers have beaten the Padres five straight times and are 8-3 against San Diego this season.

Hiroki Kuroda didn't get much run support again on Tuesday night, but he didn't need it, as the Dodgers beat the Padres 1-0 for their second win in as many nights at Petco Park in San Diego. Kuroda pitched seven scoreless innings to snap a four-game losing streak, and improved his record to a still ludicrous 7-13, especially considering his 2.96 ERA.

Matt Kemp continued his assault on National League pitching, with two more hits. He drove in the Dodgers' only run with an RBI single in the fourth inning. Kemp has a 10-game hitting streak, and also a streak of six consecutive games with two or more hits, tied for the fifth longest streak in Los Angeles Dodgers history.

The Dodgers have beaten the Padres five straight times and are 8-3 against San Diego this season.

On some level, you have to feel for Mat Latos, who has started twice against the Dodgers and given up a total of two runs. However, he has two losses in those two games as well. The Dodgers have beaten the Padres 1-0 three times this season, tied for the most 1-0 wins over one opponent in one season since moving to Los Angeles. The Dodgers beat the Mets 1-0 three times in both 1963 and 1970, and did the same to the Phillies in 1967.

The Dodgers announced Tuesday that, as expected, Rubby De La Rosa will in fact undergo Tommy John surgery to repair his sprained ulnar collateral ligament in his right elbow. This effectively ends this season and likely all of next season as well. This is clearly a low point in the Dodgers season full of them.

On the field tonight, the Dodgers battle the Padres in San Diego in the second game of a three-game series at Petco Park. Hiroki Kuroda starts for the Dodgers, facing Mat Latos of the Padres.
Matt Kemp has a nine-game hitting streak, during which is hitting .444/.462/.778.

Hiroki Kuroda over the weekend told the Dodgers he wished to honor his contract and remain with the team through the end of the year rather than be traded to a contender. Tonight, he starts for the Dodgers looking for run support as the Dodgers continue a three-game series at Petco Park in San Diego. The Dodgers won the opener of the series 6-2 behind Clayton Kershaw and Matt Kemp on Monday night.

Kuroda has an absurdly unfair 6-13 record this season despite a 3.11 ERA. In his last 12 starts, Kuroda has a 3.38 ERA plus 55 strikeouts against just 17 unintentional walks, yet he is 1-10. The Dodgers have scored 24 runs in those 12 starts.

Mat Latos gets the start for the Padres, looking for some run support of his own. San Diego has scored 26 runs in his last nine starts, during which Latos has one win. He allowed just one run in 7 1/3 innings at Dodger Stadium on July 8, but got hung with the loss as the Dodgers won one of two straight 1-0 games over the Padres.

Kemp has a nine-game hitting streak, during which is hitting .444/.462/.778. The Dodgers are 7-3 against the Padres this season.
