Anaheim, CA (Sports Network) - Maicer Izturis singled up the middle past a drawn-in infield, scoring Alberto Callaspo with the game-winning run in the 10th inning of the Angels' 4-3 win over the Nationals. Extra innings was needed after Danny Espinosa's two-out, solo homer off Jordan Walden tied the game in the ninth, extending the debut of Davey Johnson as Washington's manager.

But Sean Burnett (3-4) couldn't extend the game in the 10th, as he loaded the bases on a one-out single to Callaspo, a ground-rule double to Peter Bourjos and an intentional walk to Bobby Wilson prior to Izturis' game-winner.

The Angels won all four series on their four corners road trip two games to one, and return home Monday night to face the Washington Nationals. Ervin Santana gets the start for the Angels, looking to improve on his 3-8 record, which is not representative of how well he has pitched this season. John Lannan gets the start for the Nationals

Santana is 3-8 this season, but is ERA is just 4.22. He has lost all four starts in June despite a 3.86 ERA, thanks in part to seven runs of support. He has allowed two runs in 14 innings in two starts against National League teams this season.

Davey Johnson makes Nationals managerial debut tonight. The 68-year old Johnson, who last managed in 2000 with he Dodgers, was named manager on Sunday, three days after Jim Riggleman abruptly resigned. The Angels are 8-4 against the National League this season. The Nationals have brought their presidential mascots to Anaheim, and the quartet will race on the field at Angels Stadium during all three games of this series.
