The Angels had a runner in scoring position in every inning except for the 5th, but once again failed to collect the timely hit needed to score a run until scoring two in the 9th. However, by then it was too late as the Marlins scored 5 runs, 4 with clutch hits in beating the Angels 5-2. With the win, the Marlins end their 11-game losing streak, and give newly appointed manager Jack McKeon his first victory as interim manager.

For the Angels, the loss was just another example of a season where the Angels have wasted opportunities with runners in scoring position. In Tuesday's game, the Halos went 1 for 15 with runners in scoring position, waiting until the 9th before finally scoring. Also, in continuing another trend, the Halos hit into two double plays adding to their league-leading total.

Ervin Santana (3-8) allowed 2 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings. He struck out 6 and walked one, but also allowed his 15th home run of the season, tying him with Cleveland's Fausto Carmona for the second most in the American league. The loss also extends Santana's personal losing streak to four games. In the four loses, the Angels have scored just 5 runs.

The Angels may have picked the right time to travel to south Florida, as the Florida Marlins are in the midst of an 11-game losing streak and losers in 19 of their last 20 games. The Marlins hired Jack McKeon to helm the club, but the outcome was the same in his first game as their skipper, losing 2-1 to the Angels Monday night in the first game of their 3-game inter-league series.

The Angels will send Ervin Santana (3-7, 4.25 ERA) to the mound Tuesday night. Santana is in the midst of his own losing streak as he's lost his previous 3 starts although pitching well enough to win. In the three losses, the right-hander has gone 20.2 innings allowing 9 earned runs (3.92), but the Angels offense has given him a total of 3 runs in the three outings.

Facing the Angels will be Javier Vazquez (3-7, 6.85 ERA). The right-handers has had his problems pitching at home in 2011, winning just once in six starts, compiling a 8.23 ERA in the process.

The Angels are 5-2 during this 12-game road trip and look to win their third straight series, something they haven't done since the second week of the season.
