Chad Billingsley was roughed up for seven runs on nine hits in four innings, as the Dodgers lost to the Reds 7-2 at Dodger Stadium on Wednesday afternoon. The loss completed a three-game sweep by Cincinnati, and dropped the Dodgers to a season-low eight games under .500. It was the third straight bat outing by Billingsley, who is having a rough June.

In three starts in June, Billingsley has allowed 17 runs and 30 hits in 13 2/3 innings, raising his season ERA to 4.65. Some of his struggles can be attributed to luck (hitters have a .500 batting average on balls in play this month), but he has also had poor location and the eight walks against nine strikeouts are a concern.

Dee Gordon and Matt Kemp each had two hits for the Dodgers, who are off on Thursday. They open up a weekend series with Houston on Friday. Reliever Hong-Chih Kuo will pitch in a rehab game in Oklahoma City with the Triple A Albuquerque Isotopes tonight.

The Dodgers look to salvage a game in their three-game series against the Cincinnati Reds with an afternoon finale on Wednesday. Chad Billingsley starts on the mound for the Dodgers, while Travis Wood gets the call for the Reds. Here are today's starting lineups:

Reds (36-33)

Heisey CF
Renteria SS
Votto 1B
Phillips 2B
Rolen 3B
Gomes LF
Lewis RF
Hanigan C
Wood P

Jay Bruce, Drew Stubbs, and Paul Janish all get the day off for Cincinnati, who is finishing up their west coast road trip today.

Dodgers (31-38)

Gordon SS
Carroll 2B
Ethier RF
Kemp CF
Uribe 3B
Thames LF
Loney 1B
Barajas C
Billingsley P

The Dodgers hadn't faced a left-handed pitcher since a week ago in Philadelphia, which means Marcus Thames gets the start in left field. Thames is 1-for-9 since returning from the disabled list last week.

The Dodgers look to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Cincinnati Reds in a Wednesday afternoon affair at Dodger Stadium. Chad Billingsley gets the start for the Dodgers, who lost 6-4 on Monday night and 3-2 on Tuesday thanks in part to a lack of relief work from the bullpen. Travis Wood, who lost to Billingsley and the Dodgers 10 days ago, will start for the Reds.

Billingsley is 5-5 with a 4.13 ERA this season, and has allowed 10 runs and 21 hits in 9 2/3 innings in his last two starts. He won the first of those starts, in Cincinnati on June 5, thanks in part to his own hitting. Billingsley hit a home run and a double, and had a bases loaded walk against Wood.

Dee Gordon has only played eight games so far, two at home, but has quickly become a crowd favorite. His blinding speed has been intoxicating, with several exciting trips around the bases (he has three steals and six runs scored so far), and even though he has yet to draw his first major league walk he has still been relatively productive at the plate, hitting .323/.323/.387. In addition, Gordon has shown great range and a very good arm at shortstop. The comparisons to Juan Pierre are apt and though Pierre was vilified because of his overpriced contract, if Pierre had an arm and played shortstop while making the major league minimum he would have been beloved too, like Gordon is becoming.

The Dodgers are wearing powder blue throwback uniforms from the 1940s today, one of six such dates on the schedule this season. The Reds will also be wearing throwback uniforms, from the 1944 season. The Dodgers are 15-18 at home this season.
