Kemp is hitting .328/.415/.622 this season, and is tied for the NL lead with 20 home runs, and is third in the league with 57 RBI. He also has 17 stolen bases and has been caught only three times. Since fan balloting returned to choosing the All-Star starting lineups in 1970, Dodger outfielders have been selected to start the All-Star game by the fans six times: Jimmy Wynn (1974-1975), Rick Monday (1978), Reggie Smith (1980), Darryl Strawberry (1991; did not play), and Ethier (2010).

The first release of American League vote totals for the 2011 MLB All-Star Game was released on Wednesday, and the Los Angeles Angels appear unlikely to have anyone voted into the game. The game will be held at Chase Field in Phoenix on July 12. Currently, only two Angels are in the top five at their positions in American League voting.

Maicer Izturis is a distant fifth place at third base with 199,423 votes, far behind the 945,127 votes received by leader Alex Rodriguez. At shortstop, Erick Aybar is also fifth, with 215,991 votes, trailing another Yankee, Derek Jeter, who has 931,410 votes. Torii Hunter and Jered Weaver were named All-Stars in 2010, when the game was held in Anaheim. Vernon Wells, now with the Angels, made the All-Star team last season while with Toronto. MLB All-Star voting runs through June 30.

The Dodgers offense this season has been mostly comprised of the contributions of two men, so it's only fitting that Matt Kemp and Andre Ethier are in the hunt for All-Star berths. Ethier and Kemp are fourth and fifth, respectively, among National League outfielders in the first round of balloting released by Major League Baseball on Tuesday. The 2011 MLB All-Star Game will be held on Tuesday, July 12 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.

Ethier was voted as an All-Star starter last season, the first Dodgers outfielder to start an All-Star Game since Reggie Smith in 1980. This season, Ethier is having a good season, hitting .330/.406/.469, and had a 30-game hitting streak, but his power has yet to show up. Ethier has the lowest ISO (short for "isolated power," which is simply slugging percentage minus batting average) of his career, and has five home runs through one third of the season.

Kemp has rebounded from a subpar 2010 campaign to hit .308/.387/.542 this season with 12 home runs, 36 RBI, 33 runs scored, and 14 stolen bases. The center fielder has never made an All-Star squad in his career. MLB All-Star voting runs through June 30.
