The Angels pounded out 10 hits, including back-to-back home runs by Torii Hunter and Alberto Callaspo in the 5th inning against one of the top pitchers in the AL this season. Trevor Cahill (6-2) had entered the game ranked #2 in ERA in the AL, but he issued a season-high 5 walks to go along with 10 hits in his 6 innings of work.

Ervin Santana (3-4) won his second consecutive decision after winning just once in his first 9 starts. Santana went 6 innings, giving up one run on six hits, while striking out 6 and walking 2. Three relievers pitched 3 innings of shutout baseball to hold onto the win and giving the Angels a 4-2 record for their current 7-game home stand. Jordan Waldon pitched a perfect 9th to record his 10th save.

The Angels took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Peter Bourjos reached first on a 2-out groundball to shortstop Chad Pennington. Pennington's throw pulled first baseman Daric Barton off the bag allowing Hank Conger to score from third on the play. Oakland tied the game in the 5th on a Coco Crisp double off the centerfield wall. Andy LaRouche scored from second, but Pennington was gunned down at the plate on a nice relay throw from second baseman Alexi Amarista to end the inning.

With the scored tied at 1-1, Torii Hunter homered to deep left field (413 feet) putting the Halos ahead for good. Callaspo followed Hunter's blast with one of his own, a 384 foot bomb to right. Reggie Willits finished off the Angels coring with his first hit of the season, a 2-out double to right-center that scored Mark Trumbo.

The Angels and Athletics play the final game of their 4-game series Thursday afternoon. The 1:05 game will feature Joel Pineiro (2-0, 2.67 ERA) going for the Halos against Brett Anderson (2-4, 3.18 ERA)

The Angels (25-25) will take on the Oakland Athletics (23-26) in Wednesday night's game in Anaheim in a game that features starting pitchers who have had good success against their opposition.

The Angels will send Ervin Santana (2-4, 4.18 ERA) to the hill in the third of 4 games against the A's. With a 12-3 record and an ERA of 1.99 in 21 career appearances against Oakland, Santana looks to get back on track after his recent outing have been less one-sided. In his last 5 starts versus the A's, Santana has gone 2-2 while having a 4.34 ERA.

So far in 2011, Santana has been inconsistent. After going winless in his first five starts, Santana has gone 2-1 over his last five. During that time he has compiled a 2.81 ERA over 32 innings, allowing 24 hits while striking out 27 and walking just 7. Santana pitched his fourth career shutout in his last outing, a 4-hit win over the Braves on May 20th.

If Santana likes facing the A's, right-hander Trevor Cahill probably likes facing the Angels more. Cahill (6-1, 1.79 ERA) has had great success against the Halo squad in his career. In seven starts, Cahill has gone 4-1 with a 1.81 ERA, which includes one earned run over his last 21 innings against the Angels. Cahill's 6 wins this season has him tied for the league lead with Jered Weaver (and 4 others), while his 1.79 ERA ranks second in the AL.

The Angels are 3-2 during their recent 7-game home stand and are currently a half game behind the AL West division leading Texas Rangers.

Who's Hot - Last 7 Games:
Bobby Abreu - 9 for his last 23 (.391), 2 2B, 1 HR, 5 RBI, 3 SB
Torii Hunter - 8 for his last 26 (.308), 3 2B, 1 HR, 7 RBI

David DeJesus- 6 for his last 22 (.273), 2 HR

Who's Cold - Last 7 Games:
Alexi Amarista - 1 for his last 20 (.050), 2 E
Peter Bourjos - 3 for his last 20 (.150), 6 K
Hank Conger - 1 for his last 16 (.063)

Daric Barton- 5 for his last 27 (.185), 7 K
Conor Jackson- 2 for his last 16 (.125)
Mark Ellis - 4 for his last 21 (.190)
