The Los Angeles Dodgers used a six-run outburst in the third inning to defeat the Chicago Cubs 12-2 at Wrigley Field in the opening game of a six-game road trip. The Dodgers sent 11 men to the plate in the largest inning of their season, producing six runs on six hits and two walks, which more than enough to support Chad Billingsley on the mound. Billingsley pitched 6 1/3 innings for his second win of the season.

Juan Uribe had two hits, including a home run, and had four RBI for the second time in three games. The Dodgers had a well-balanced offensive attack, including Andre Ethier extending his hitting streak to 19 games, a major league high this season. The Dodgers on offense had 10 walks, more than they have had in any two games this season.

The Dodgers saw an amazing 230 pitches, which appears to be a Los Angeles franchise record for a game nine innings or less. Every Dodger starter either scored or drove in a run, and Jerry Sands was the only one without a hit. The Dodgers, who have won three straight games, will go for their fourth straight on Saturday, with Ted Lilly facing Ryan Dempster.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in search of their third straight win on Friday afternoon as they open a six-game road trip facing the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field. The Dodgers will send to the mound Chad Billingsley, who struck out 11 while pitching eight scoreless innings against St. Louis last Sunday. The Cubs will counter with Casey Coleman.

The Dodgers have won four of their last five games, thanks largely to Matt Kemp, who has won two games with walk-off, two-run home runs, including one on Thursday against the Braves. In addition, the Dodgers have received superb starting pitching in their last five games, putting up a 1.38 ERA while averaging 7.8 innings per start.

Andre Ethier of the Dodgers has an 18-game hitting streak, the longest in MLB this season. Kemp leads the Dodgers in home runs, runs, RBI, stolen bases, and is hitting .411/.488/.644 through 20 games this season. Today's 11:20 a.m. PDT game will be televised on Prime Ticket. Today is the second of four consecutive day games for the Dodgers.
