C.J. Wilson pitched seven strong innings, leading the Texas Rangers to a 7-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Monday night. Adrian Beltre hit a three-run home run to cap a fifth-inning rally that broke the game open. The win moves Texas into first place in the American League West at 11-5, one game ahead of the Angels.

Ervin Santana started for the Angels, but was chased in the fifth after facing four batters and not retiring any of them. Santana allowed six runs, the final three on Beltre's home run, and 10 hits in his four innings of work. It was the second-shortest start of the season for the Angels, who have 12 quality starts in 16 games this season.

The Angels' only run came on an RBI double by Howie Kendrick in the seventh inning. Ian Kinsler doubled and tripled for Texas, and Elvis Andrus had three hits. Mitch Moreland hit a home run in the eighth inning to close out the scoring.
The Los Angeles Angels are in search of their sixth straight victory tonight against the Texas Rangers in Arlington, but they have their work cut out for them if they are to get another win. Ervin Santana was pulled after giving up six runs and 10 hits in just four innings, putting the Angels in an early hole. The game is now 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Santana gave up two runs in the fourth inning, on a two-run single by Mitch Moreland, and then started the fifth, but he faced four batters without recording an out. The Rangers began the fifth inning with a triple by Ian Kinsler, a bunt single by Elvis Andrus, a single by Michael Young, and a three-run bomb by Adrian Beltre.

Santana's start was the second shortest outing of the season by an Angels' starting pitcher this season, ahead of only the one disastrous start by Scott Kazmir on April 3. Kazmir was knocked out after just 1 2/3 innings on that day, against Kansas City. Before tonight, the Angels' starting pitchers had thrown five quality starts in a row.
