Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) – Pau Gasol led a balanced attack with 13 points and 14 rebounds, as the Los Angeles Lakers used suffocating defense in a record-setting 112-57 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Lakers set a franchise regular-season record for fewest points scored by an opponent in a game. The previous mark was set on March 12, 2002, when Los Angeles held Charlotte to 66 points.

Ron Artest and Andrew Bynum each had 15 points for the Lakers, whose 55-point margin of victory proved to be the third-largest in Los Angeles history. Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom and Shannon Brown chipped in with 13 points apiece.

Alonzo Gee finished with 12 points and eight rebounds to pace the Cavaliers, who set a franchise-low for points in a game. The previous record was 59 points, set March 25, 1997 against San Antonio.

Ramon Sessions added 10 points for the Cavs, who have lost 17 in a row on the road. Cleveland, which shot 29.9 percent from the field, has also lost 11 in a row overall.

The Los Angeles Lakers face the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight at Staples Center, and on paper it looks like a mismatch. The Lakers have won four straight games, and six out of seven, while the Cavaliers have lost 10 straight games, and 20 out of 21. Cleveland has lost a stunning 16 games in a row on the road. Both teams have suffered key injuries in the last week, although the Cavs' injury qualifies as more crushing.

Laker reserve forward Matt Barnes had surgery this morning to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, and while his loss will be felt by the Lakers, it's not as deep a cut as suffered by Cleveland. Starting power forward and energy guy Anderson Varejao is out for the season with a torn tendon in his right foot. Here is a look at tonight's probable starting lineups at Staples Center:

Cavaliers (8-29)

Point Guard: Mo Williams

Shooting Guard: Manny Harris

Small Forward: Christian Eyenga

Power Forward: Antawn Jamison

Center: J.J. Hickson

In addition to Varejao for the Cavs, Joey Graham, Daniel Gibson, and Leon Powe are out, and Anthony Parker is a gametime decision with a lower back strain.

Lakers (27-11)

Point Guard: Derek Fisher

Shooting Guard: Kobe Bryant

Small Forward: Ron Artest

Power Forward: Pau Gasol

Center: Andrew Bynum

Lamar Odom is listed as probable with a sore left shoulder, but since he grabbed 18 rebounds with the same sore left shoulder on Sunday, my guess is that Odom will play tonight. Odom has played in 138 consecutive games, dating back to the 2008-2009 season.

The Los Angeles Lakers look to win their fifth straight game tonight as they host the reeling Cleveland Cavaliers at Staples Center. The Lakers won their fourth straight Sunday night against the Knicks at home, pulling away in the second half for a convincing 109-87 victory. The Lakers won't face nearly as difficult a foe tonight, as the Cavs have been struggling mightily of late.

The Cavaliers started their season 7-9, but have lost 20 of 21 games since then, including dropping their last 10 straight games. The Cavs did sweep the season series last season against the Lakers, but that squad was a tad bit different than this year, with one LeBron James in the fold. Cleveland has lost 16 straight games on the road.

Andrew Bynum asserted himself on the offensive end on Sunday night against the Knicks, scoring 18 points in just 25 minutes, making eight of his 15 field goal attempts. He was joined in the middle by Pau Gasol, who tallied 20 points and 14 rebounds, and Lamar Odom, who scored 13 points and grabbed a season-high 18 boards off he bench. Those three players for the Lakers had nearly as many rebounds (39) as did the entire Knicks' team (42).

The Lakers will have their hands full with the Cavs, who are third in the NBA in offensive rebounds allowed, at 9.5 per game. Or perhaps they would have their hands full, if Anderson Varejao were active. He is out for the season for the Cavs with a torn tendon in his right foot. The Lakers are second in the league in rebounding, averaging 44.6 per game.

Tonight is the first game of back-to-back contests for the Lakers, who travel to Oakland to battle Golden State on Wednesday night. The Lakers are 5-2 in the first game of back-to-back contests this season, including 3-0 at home. Forward Matt Barnes underwent successful surgery on his right knee this morning, and is expected to miss up to eight weeks. Tonight's 7:30 p.m. PST tip-off will be televised on Fox Sports West.
