The Stanford Cardinal, who have beaten both UCLA and USC so far this season, are ranked 12th, and the Arizona Wildcats are ranked 18th.

Both USC and UCLA have Oregon as their next schedule game. The Bruins travel to Eugene this Thursday for a night battle on ESPN, and the Trojans host the Ducks on Oct. 30 at the Coliseum in Los Angeles.

No. 18 Arizona travels to LA to play the Bruins on Oct. 30, and host the Trojans on November 13 in Tucson.

The Associated Press college football poll is out, and as expected, USC made quite a climb from obscurity. After not receiving any votes last week, USC moved up to 26th in the AP poll after their 48-14 drubbing of the Cal Bears on Saturday.

USC received 80 points, just five points shy of the Miami Hurricanes, who are ranked 25th. USC has a bye this week, but next hosts Oregon on October 30. The Ducks are ranked number one in both the AP poll and USA Today coaches poll.

Last week, 32 teams received votes in the AP poll, and not one of them was USC. The Trojans are ineligible for the coaches poll.

The new college football polls are out, and there is a new number one in town. The Oregon Ducks are ranked at the top of the USA Today college football poll, after back-to-back weeks in which the number one team lost. Last week, Alabama lost to South Carolina, and yesterday Ohio State lost to Wisconsin.

Standing in Oregon's way are both local teams, as they attempt to break the trend of the top team losing. The UCLA Bruins travel to Eugene to play the Ducks Thursday night on ESPN. The last time the Bruins played a top-ranked team was December 3, 2005, when they lost to USC 66-19. The last time UCLA beat a number one team was when they beat Ohio State 23-10 in the 1976 Rose Bowl.

After the Bruins, Oregon's next opponent is the USC Trojans, on October 30 at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. The last time USC played a top-ranked team was October 3, 1992, when they lost 17-10 to the Washington Huskies. The last time the Trojans beat a top-ranked team was on November 10, 1984, when they beat Washington 16-7.

The USC Trojans played their best game of the season on Saturday, building a 42-0 halftime lead over the California Golden Bears en route to a 48-14 win. The win snapped the Trojans' two-game losing streak, but was it enough to garner any votes in the Associated Press college football poll?

After their loss to Stanford last week, USC was wiped off the face of the AP poll, not even in the "others receiving votes" section, a spot they occupied one week before. However, there were a lot of losses this week among the ranked teams:

No. 1 Ohio State lost to No. 18 Wisconsin

No. 5 Nebraska lost at home to unranked Texas

No. 10 South Carolina lost to unranked Kentucky

No. 12 Arkansas lost to No. 7 Auburn

No. 19 Nevada lost to unranked Hawaii

No. 22 Florida lost at home to unranked Mississipi State

No. 23 Air Force lost to unranked San Diego State

No. 24 Oregon State lost to unranked Washington

No. 26 Michigan lost to No. 15 Iowa

No. 28 North Carolina State lost to unranked East Carolina

That's seven teams of the 32 teams that received votes in last week's poll that lost to unranked teams. It probably won't be enough to vault USC into the top 25, but they will at the very least receive some votes, and that's a start.

Because it is on NCAA probation, USC is not eligible for the USA Today coaches poll.
