The Rose Bowl would be getting two second-choices if CBS Sports' current bowl projections come to fruition as they have the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Oregon St. Beavers headed to Pasadena on Jan. 1.
With the Ohio St. Buckeyes ineligible for the postseason, the Cornhuskers would fill the role of Big Ten champions and represent the conference in the bowl. CBS has the Oregon Ducks facing the Alabama Crimson Tide in the BCS Championship game, which leaves their in-state rival leftover to represent the Pac-12. USC would have been the preferred choice and brought the biggest fan base, but the Trojans are now out of the BCS picture after their recent loss to the Ducks on Saturday.
The Cornhuskers are currently 7-2 overall, 4-1 in the Big Ten, and sport the sixth-best rushing attack in the country along with the fifth-best passing defense. The Beavers are 7-1 overall, 5-1 in the Pac-12, and sport the fifth-best rushing defense in the country.
