USC may have lost to Oregon, their second consecutive loss and third of the season, but they still harbor Rose Bowl dreams. With Oregon looking like a decent bet to make the National Title Game, at least right now, the Rose Bowl will likely try to choose another Pac-12 team and according to the latest SB Nation bowl projections, that team will be the Trojans.
The projections have USC taking on Nebraska in Pasadena, CA. The Cornhuskers are tied with Michigan for the Big 10 Legends Division lead at 4-1, but Nebraska beat the Wolverines so they have the tiebreaker. Ohio St. and Penn St. are atop the Leaders Division, but both are ineligible for the postseason so Nebraska appears to have the edge in the Big 10, at least when it comes to bowl selection.
USC still has a lot of work to do if they want to make the Rose Bowl, though. They currently trail UCLA in the Pac-12 South and there is no realistic chance of them making the Rose Bowl without winning their division, considering the last of great teams in the South. The Trojans and Bruins square off on November 17, where a USC win could put them back on track to make the Pac-12 Title Game, likely for a rematch with Oregon, and possibly a place in the Rose Bowl.
