With the news that the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns are ramping up their talks for a possible sign-and-trade deal for free agent point guard Steve Nash, other teams are trying their best to get ahold of the perennial All-Star, including the Los Angeles Lakers.
The Lake Show was pursuing a possible sign-and-trade deal of their own for Nash, but apparently the Suns wanted nothing of sending him to a Western Conference rival, especially the Purple and Gold.
Per ESPN's Marc Stein via Twitter:
Sources briefed on talks say Lakers' reported S-and-T push for Nash blocked to date by Suns brass. Can't stomach dealing him to old rival— Marc Stein (@ESPNSteinLine) July 4, 2012
Nash is said to favor playing in New York, though other squads like the Mavericks and Raptors are said to be vying for his services still as well.
