If Howard is willing to sign long-term, then one clear impediment to a trade is out of the way. The other impediment is whether Lakers center Andrew Bynum will be willing to do the same for whatever team he ends up getting dealt to. Add in all the bad contracts that might need to be juggled, and this deal is a long way from being over.
