Lakers Offseason: Quin Snyder Joins Ettore Messina At CSKA Moscow

The Los Angeles Lakers just can't worry about refurbishing their player personnel. Their coaching staff will now have some big holes to fill. The high-profiled European coach Ettore Messina is on his way to CSKA Moscow, and he's bringing one of the best assistants of the Lakers in Quin Snyder with him. Snyder had been under consideration for NBA jobs, but he eventually ended up back in Los Angeles. Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times files this report.

Snyder, 45, drew interest from two NBA teams this off-season and was a finalist for the head coaching job in Charlotte. He was also being considered for the Orlando Magic vacancy.

He became a favorite of Lakers players, earning their trust with his low-key, but effective, demeanor.

Brown will now have to find a new assistant coach, although it shouldn't be too difficult to find a replacement. Everyone is always interested in being coached by the Lakers.

CSKA Moscow is one of the top teams in Europe and finished as the runners-up in the EuroLeague championship last season.
