Kobe Bryant To Pass Shaquille O'Neal On NBA All-Time Scoring List

Two Los Angeles Lakers legends will be remembered again. Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal will be linked once more tonight. Well, maybe another game if Kobe doesn't hit his usual figures, but who wouldn't

Bryant currently has 28,573 points, and O'Neal accumulated 28,596 points throughout his career (who knows how many more points there would've been if he knew how to make free throws). Arash Markazi of ESPN Los Angeles reports.

You've seen the smile before.

He flashed it after he won his last championship two years ago and said, "I just got one more than Shaq. So you can take that to the bank. You guys know how I am. I don't forget anything."

He flashed it again Thursday night when I asked him if it will mean anything to him to pass his old teammate in total points now along with championships.

"No," he said with a grin. "It was inevitable."

Bryant will have to be happy that he's passing his old teammate in the next day or two, providing another benchmark that he can hold over the man he bitterly feuded with year after year as a Laker. More titles, more wins, more years, more time as a Laker. It's safe to say that when you look at a list of great Lakers, it'll be clear who'll be remembered first.
