Steve Nash injury: Guard out for Tuesday's game against Indiana Pacers

Steve Nash was a limited participant in practice on Monday and has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Indiana Pacers, ESPN reported on Monday.

The Lakers canceled an MRI scheduled for Monday and instead had Nash work with a strength coach as he recovers from a fractured fibula suffered in the second game of the season.

Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni doesn't have a timetable for when Nash is expected back, telling ESPN that things are looking better each day.

"It's getting better every day. I know we keep saying that, but it is. Just when he's able to withstand some up-and-down, he'll play."

Nash will be joined on the bench Tuesday by fellow guard Steve Blake, who did not practice on Monday due to a strained abdomen. Blake is listed as day to day on the injury report.

Alongside Dwight Howard, Nash was one of the summer's big acquisitions for the Lakers, who were immediately thrust into championship chatter. The team hasn't seen much of the duo together, though, as Nash only played 50 minutes before injuring his leg. The Lakers are 7-5 without Nash, who is averaging 4.5 points, four assists and three rebounds a game.
