Lakers waive Chris Douglas-Roberts and Greg Somogyi

The Lakers waived two players on Monday to cut their roster to 16.

The Los Angeles Lakers waived Chris Douglas-Roberts and Greg Somogyi on Monday to cut their roster to 16 heading into the final week of training camp.

Douglas-Roberts is a three-year NBA veteran who was drafted by the New Jersey Nets 40th overall in the second round of the 2008 NBA Draft. Douglas-Roberts played in 44 games with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2010-11, averaging 7.3 points and 2.0 rebounds in just over 20 minutes per game.

The former University of Memphis standout averaged 12.3 points and 3.0 rebounds in 27 minutes per game for Virtus Bologna in the Italian league last season. Douglas-Roberts averaged 4.0 points and 0.8 rebounds in 8.3 minutes a game in four preseason games for the Lakers this year.

Somogyi, a 7'3 center out of UC Santa Barbara, averaged 3.5 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 12.2 minutes per game during his four-year college career. With the Lakers, Somogyi averaged 1.7 points and 2.7 rebounds in 7.7 minutes per game in three preseason games.
