Kobe Bryant will suit up for a team that isn't the Lakers in the very near future, but it won't be for Turkish basketball powerhouse Besiktas either. Instead, Kobe's taking his talents to Washington D.C. to play in the Mia Hamm and Nomar Garciaparra Celebrity Soccer Challenge this Sunday, according to Grant Wahl. The event will benefit the Mia Hamm Foundation and the Children's National Medical Center.

Bryant is certainly the highest-profile athlete to take part in the event, though he'll join other notables Boston Celtics forward Jeff Green and Around the Horn host Tony Reali. Additionally, Tobin Heath, Ali Krieger, Alex Morgan, and Heather O'Reilly of the U.S. Women's National Team will also participate in the event.

Kobe grew up in Italy, where his father Joe hooped professionally. While there, the younger Bryant learned to appreciate soccer. "There are no boundaries," Bryant told USA Today when asked about what draws him to Ronaldinho, his favorite footballer.

No boundaries. Not unlike Kobe's style on the hardwood.
