Lakers forward Matt Barnes had an MRI on his right knee on Thursday, and it showed good improvement. Barnes announced per his Twitter feed that he has returned to the court for spot shooting and will be back to running in about two weeks. Mike Trudell of NBA.com expanded a bit and said a full recovery is expected and that Barnes has full range of motion. Barnes missed a total of 28 games during the season after tearing the lateral meniscus in that knee.
↵Barnes signed a one-year contract with the Lakers last summer, and averaged 6.7 points and 4.3 rebounds in 19.2 minutes per game off the bench. The former UCLA Bruin said last week that he would exercise his player option to return to the Lakers for the 2011-2012 season. Barnes will earn $1.9 million next season.
