Great News: Tex Winter Expected To Attend Hall Of Fame Induction, Be Presented By Phil Jackson

Fans of the Lakers and basketball in general should rejoice that, when Tex Winter is inducted into the National Basketball Hall of Fame in August, Winter himself is expected to be in attendance. Winter, a 1947 graduate of USC and longtime Lakers and Bulls assistant coach, has been confined to family care since suffering a stroke in 2009. K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune has more information:

According to the family friend, Winter's family has begun to assemble a guest list for Winter's induction. That list will include Phil Jackson, who is expected to serve as Winter's presenter, a source said.

Jackson, who expressed anger at the long time Winter has had to wait to join the Hall of Fame during the season when Winter's induction was announced, worked with Winter in both Chicago and Los Angeles. The duo won 10 championships together. It's great news that Winter will be able to attend the ceremony rather than miss it for health reasons. It's an honor richly deserved.
