The Los Angeles Lakers will be moving to new television home beginning with the 2012-2013 season. Time Warner Cable announced today that it would create two new regional sports networks, including the first Spanish language regional sports network in the U.S., and the showpiece of the new network will be the Lakers. The Lakers signed a 20-year deal, which begins after next season.

"The Buss family is thrilled to join forces with Time Warner Cable in building the TV home for Lakers fans," said Dr. Jerry Buss, Lakers Owner. "Time Warner Cable has been producing quality sports programming for over a decade and the Lakers have been producing championship seasons for even longer. I am particularly proud of being part of the first ever Spanish-language RSN in the country. Together I’m confident we will delight our fans."

The new network will broadcast "all locally available pre-season, regular season, and post-season Lakers games," which means the Lakers' long-tenured relationship with KCAL is coming to an end. The Lakers have been on KCAL 9 since it was known as KHJ, and have had games broadcast on the station since the 1977-1978 season. This new deal ends that relationship, as well as the relationship with Fox Sports West.

The new network will have separately produced broadcasts, pre- and post-game shows in both English and Spanish, in addition to original produced content, behind the scenes footage, and Lakers news. In addition, there will be "new online and on demand multi-platform content featuring the Lakers."
