Laker Matt Barnes' Athletes Vs. Cancer Foundation Hosts Exhibition Game

Although the NBA is embroiled in a bitter lockout, there are at least a few players who are able to come together and have some fun for a good cause. Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes has a charitable organization called the Athletes Vs. Cancer Foundation. In conjunction with the Kaiser Permanente Breast Cancer Foundation, the former Golden State Warrior was able to host an exhibition game on Saturday night.

The game, called "We Believe vs. Dubs," pitted current Warriors against past members of the organization. The game was a high-scoring affair that at times barely resembled a Harlem Globetrotters show. Baron Davis showed up in street clothes at courtside, but that didn't stop him from getting the ball passed to him, and he responded by laying up an alley-oop pass to Jason Richardson for a dunk.

The current Warriors (the "Dubz") managed to squeak out a win by the narrow margin of 158-153. By all accounts it was a fun time, and a welcome distraction from the lockout. Best of all, it was for a very good cause, and it's nice to know that there are some members of the Lakers who are spending their time and energy on something positive while they're unable to resume the NBA season.

As always, your home for all things Lakers remains Silver Screen and Roll.
