It's Not Quite Hard Knocks, But "Real Training Camp" Gives A Glimpse Into Lakers Practice

Today the NBA's "Real Training Camp" series is in Los Angeles today featuring the Lakers. It's not quite "Hard Knocks," but there are plenty of interviews with players and coaches and lots of behind-the-scenes footage. It's live online right now, for about 35 more minutes, but the three-hour broadcast will also be broadcast on NBA TV later today at 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. PDT.

Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Times caught up NBA TV's vice president of content, Scooter Vertino, about the series, which will feature several teams:

It gives a fans a different perspective. We've requested for a couple players and a coach to be [on mic]. That's another element to know what they're talking about, the fact these guys are communicating and they could be saying things somebody heard when they were playing in high school or they could be using terminology that's completely foreign to somebody.

The Lakers open their preseason schedule next Monday in London against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
