As if trailing by 31 points to the Lakers early in the third quarter wasn't bad enough, the Golden State Warriors got more bad news when Monta Ellis had to leave the game after apparently injuring his hip. The play occurred with 9:39 remaining in the third quarter, on a drive by Ellis that resulted in a missed layup, when he fell on his left hip. Ellis remained on the floor for several minutes before leaving the court on his own power.
Ellis is currently being tended to on the bench by the Golden State training staff. Ellis, who is second in the NBA in scoring at 27.7 points per game, has just five points tonight, making two of his 10 field goal attempts. In a blowout game like this, there isn't much point to bringing Ellis back in the game tonight.
The Lakers, who beat Golden State by 24 points earlier this season, appear headed for yet another blowout win over the Warriors. The Lakers have won the last 10 matchups between the two teams.
