Lakers Vs. Warriors: Lakers Seize Control With Big First Quarter

The Los Angeles Lakers continued their recent trend of fast starts against the Golden State Warriors, taking a 37-21 lead after one quarter, as the Lakers seek their fourth straight win on the season. The Lakers turned a 10-8 lead into a much wider margin with a 26-13 run to end the quarter. The Lakers have now outscored the Warriors by a total of 55 points in the first quarter in their last four matchups.

Pau Gasol led the way with 14 points for the Lakers, and also grabbed a pair of rebounds. Kobe Bryant had nine points, six rebounds, and three assists in an eventful first quarter. Golden State provided little resistance for the Lakers offense, which entered tonight leading the league in both points per game and offensive efficiency this season. The Lakers shot 68.2%, making 15 of their 22 shots from the field in the first quarter. The Lakers also chipped in with four offensive rebounds on their seven missed shots.

The Warriors shot 34.8% in the first quarter, and were led by Dorell Wright with six points.
