Lakers Player Of The Week: Lamar Odom

The Los Angeles Lakers recovered from two straight losses to produce a 3-0 road trip this week, making for a successful week. The folks at Silver Screen and Roll have chosen their player of the week for the fourth week of the season, and this week's winner is Lamar Odom. For the week (defined as Sunday to Saturday), Odom averaged 15.3 points and 10.0 rebounds, right at his seasonal averages, but it was on the defensive end at which he excelled. Odom held Kevin Love to no points and seven rebounds on Friday night, just 10 days after Love burned the Lakers for 23 points and 24 rebounds in Los Angeles.

This seems to be the best basketball Lamar has played in his life.  It could be from the confidence of being a two-time defending champion, his experience winning gold at the World Championships this past summer, being happy in his personal life, or all the above.  His averaged stats have looked like this before, but there's an easiness to his play right now that has made him more efficient in getting them.

Odom has seemed in rhythm for most of the season, not forcing any shots and letting the game come to him. He has not made a three-pointer in his last five games, but he has only taken four shots from beyond the arc during that span. Like I said, Odom is not forcing anything.
