Lakers Fall In Barcelona, 92-88

The Lakers held an 11-point lead in the third quarter, but a late run by Barcelona Regal FC gave the host team a 92-88 win at Palau Sant Jori, in Barcelona,Spain.

Kobe Bryant played extended minutes today, scoring 15 points in his 24 minutes, although he was 2-for-15 shooting from the field. Mike Trudell of NBA.com reported that even though coach Phil Jackson acquiesced to Bryant's request to re-enter the game, Bryant isn't fully healthy right now:

Phil Jackson on Kobe: "He’s not ready to play. He’s going out there to help the good will & to show the fans his presence."

Pau Gasol, playing in front of hometown fans against his former team, led the Lakers with 25 points, and had 10 rebounds. However, Gasol was 7-for-21 shooting, and the Lakers shot 34.1% on the night, including 0-for-14 on three-point attempts.

Lamar Odom had 12 points and led the Lakers with 18 rebounds. Pete Mickeal led Barcelona with 26 points, and Juan Carlos Navarro had 25 points.

The Lakers' next game will be next Wednesday, October 13 against the Sacramento Kings at Staples Center.
