The Los Angeles Kings assigned defenseman Slava Voynov to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, according to their team site. Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi made the announcement.
The 22-year-old was drafted in the second round (32nd overall) of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft before his rookie season with the club during the 2011-12 regular season. Voynov scored eight goals and recorded 12 assists with 12 penalty minutes in 54 games with the Kings. He also produced three points and four penalty minutes during the Kings' run to the Stanley Cup.
Voynov, a two-time AHL All-Star, set career highs in 2010-11 with the Monarchs when he scored 15 goals and added 36 assists for 51 points. He played 15 games with the Monarchs last season.
