The Los Angeles Kings defied all odds in the 2012 Stanley Cup playoffs and steamrolled their way to their first NHL championship in franchise history. It is now time for rest and recovery during the offseason, but there is no small amount of planning and preparation that will go into assembling the best possible team for the Kings' 2012-13 season.
On Friday, the Kings ensured they will retain at least two of their key players for the time being. Greg Beacham at Yahoo! Sports reports that two Los Angeles centers have come to terms on new contracts. Jarret Stoll will sign a three-year deal worth $9.75 million and Colin Fraser will sign a two-year deal worth $1.65 million.
The Kings will next likely focus on re-signing Dustin Penner if they hope to retain the core of their lineup. Rich Hammond at L.A. Kings Insider has more analysis.
