Kings Vs. Blues: LA Keeps Gliding With Sixth Straight Win

The Kings have won a season-high six consecutive games.

With no goals in regulation or in the overtime period, the Los Angeles Kings and St Louis Blues had to go to overtime, where the Kings winning the shootout 1-0 on the fourth shooter at Staples Center. The win puts LA first place in the Pacific Division and third place in the West. It's the Kings' sixth win in a row.

With the shootout tied 1-1 after three shooters, the recently acquired Jeff Carter got the goalie to open up, then shot the puck through the five hole to give the Kings the advantage. Chris Stewarts attempt was stopped by Jonathan Quick, giving the Kings two points and a big push up the playoff board.

The Kings were severely outshot in the first period 13 to 3. Quick was able to withstand the barrage, and the Kings started the second period much stronger. With two of the league's best goalies, the game became a battle to break through two walls with neither giving in.

The Kings will face the Boston Bruins on Saturday, then head on the road to Canada. While this is certainly a great night for LA, there is certainly a lot of season still to be played. The playoff race is so close, it's a matter of two points between seventh and third.
