Corey Perry of the Anaheim Ducks scored a goal and had an assist in the third period, helping Team Chara to a 12-9 win over Team Alfredsson in the 2012 NHL All-Star Game on Sunday afternoon at Scotiabank Place in Ottawa. Marian Gaborik had a hat trick and an assist in the win for Team Chara, and was named Most Valuable Player of the 59th NHL midseason classic.
Perry and Evgeni Malkin assisted on a goal by Jarome Iginla at 7:45 of the third period to give Team Chara an 8-7 lead. Perry then put a puck past Brian Elliott of the St. Louis Blues, the same goalie Perry scored against with a miniature stick on Saturday night, at 13:26 of the third period to give Team Chara an 11-8 lead. It was the first All-Star goal for Perry in his third All-Star appearance.
Los Angeles Kings goaltender Jonathan Quick minded the net in the second period for Team Alfredsson, and allowed three goals in 13 shots against in the high-scoring affair. Team captain Daniel Alfredsson of the host Ottawa Senators scored two goals and had an assist in defeat.
Former Duck Joffrey Lupul, now of the Toronto Blue Jays, scored two goals for Team Chara in the win.
The 2013 NHL All-Star Game will be held in Columbus.
