Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Jonathan Quick made 28 saves to give the Los Angeles Kings a 2-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena. Anze Kopitar and Dustin Brown each had a goal for the Kings, who had dropped three of four coming in. Darren Helm scored the lone goal for the Red Wings, who have lost a season- high four straight games. Jimmy Howard made 24 stops in the loss.
The Red Wings' only goal of the game came 5:57 in when Helm's shot from the right circle trickled between the pads of Quick. The Kings tied the game 7:50 into the second when Kopitar jammed home a loose puck in front for his 21st goal of the year. Skating on the power play later in the second, the Kings took the lead as Brown's snap-shot from the right point sailed past Howard with 5:17 left in the frame.
Quick stopped eight shots in the final period to help Los Angeles hang on for the win. Detroit hosts Edmonton on Friday...The Kings continue their four-game road trip in Columbus on Friday...The Kings took three of the four games with Detroit this season.
