Kings Schedule: Kings Host First-Place Canucks On Saturday

The Los Angeles Kings suddenly find themselves holding a share of first place. They'll try to add to their point total as they host the Vancouver Canucks on New Year's Eve.

In something that may come as a bit of a shock to Los Angeles Kings fans, the southern California team will enter the final weekend of 2011 in a tie for first place in the Pacific Division. Both the Kings and the San Jose Sharks hold 42 points. The Kings actually had an opportunity to leapfrog the Sharks and take sole possession of first place on Thursday night, but ended up on the losing end of a 1-0 overtime game against the Winnipeg Jets. They'll settle for the OT point that resulted in their share of first place, however.

Now, as the clock winds down on 2011 and the Kings look forward to a brand new year, they'll hope to keep pace on top of the suddenly-hotly-contested Pacific.

The Kings hold a record of 18-14-6 and will host the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday, who will be no pushovers. The Canucks currently hold possession of first place in the Northwest Division with a record of 24-12-2 and 50 points.

That game will take place on Saturday, December 31 at 7:00 PM PST and will be televised on FS-W.
