Kings Vs. Stars: Willie Mitchell Activated For Los Angeles

The Kings are 1-0-1 against Dallas this season.

The Los Angeles Kings hope to end a three-game losing streak Saturday night against the Dallas Stars at Staples Center, and will have Willie Mitchell back on the ice. The Kings on Saturday activated the defenseman from injured reserve after Mitchell missed three games with a lower body injury.

Forward Ethan Moreau cleared waivers and was assigned to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League to make room for Mitchell on the roster.

In addition to losing three straight and five of their last seven games, the Kings are in a scoring slump with seven straight games scoring two goals or less. Since beginning the season 6-2-1, the Kings are just 7-9-3 and have averaged just 2.21 goals per game during that span.

This is the third meeting of the season between the Kings and Stars, but the first in Los Angeles. The Kings won in Dallas 5-3 on October 27, but lost in a return trip 3-2 in overtime on November 23. Saturday night is the final home game for the Kings before they embark on a four-game road trip beginning Tuesday in Boston.

Saturday's 7:30 p.m. PST game will be televised by Fox Sports West. For more Kings hockey news and analysis, be sure to read Jewels From The Crown.
