Kings Vs. Stars: L.A. Blows Late Lead, Loses In Overtime In Dallas 3-2

That wasn't the ending the Los Angeles Kings expected. Up 2-0 entering the third period and 2-1 with under a minute remaining in regulation, the Kings somehow found themselves on the wrong end of a 3-2 overtime decision to the Dallas Stars Wednesday night at American Airlines Arena.

The Kings and Stars are now tied in the Pacific Division with 26 points, currently in first place but one point ahead of the San Jose Sharks, who are battling the Chicago Blackhawks Wednesday night.

Loui Erikkson scored the equalizing goal with just 21 seconds left in the third period, assisted by Jamie Benn and Michael Ryder. Steve Ott scored the game-winner at 2:56 of overtime.

The Kings led 2-0 entering the final period thanks to goals by Mike Richards and Kevin Westgarth, but they weren't able to hold the lead. Rob Scuderi after the game said, "It's simple...you have to keep your foot on the gas pedal to win in this league." Goaltender Jonathan Quick saved 35 of 38 shots in defeat.

The Kings return home to face the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday night at Staples Center.
