As expected, the Los Angeles Kings activated defenseman Drew Doughty on Saturday before tonight's contest against the Phoenix Coyotes at Jobing.com Arena in Arizona. Doughty missed the last five games with an upper body injury. Rookie Viatcheslav Voynov impressed in his first five NHL games, but the 21-year old was assigned to the Manchester Monarchs of the AHL.
Doughty, who signed an eight-year contract extension with the Kings in September, missed the last five games after getting hit by Zac Rinaldo of the Philadelphia Flyers on October 15. The 21-year old Voynov scored two goals and an assist in Thursday's road win over the Dallas Stars, including the game-winning goal.
In addition to Doughty's return, there is another roster shuffle of sorts. Left wing Simon Gagne will not play tonight, per Rich Hammond of LAKingsInsider.com, with an undisclosed injury. Gagne is considered day-to-day. Trent Hunter will take Gagne's place.
Saturday's 6 p.m. PDT game will be televised by Fox Sports West. For more Kings news and information, be sure to read Jewels From The Crown.
