Kings Vs. Blues: Jonathan Quick Shuts Out St. Louis In Blowout Home Opener 5-0 Win

The Los Angeles Kings snapped an eight-game losing streak to the St. Louis Blues in emphatic fashion with a 5-0 victory in the Kings' home opener Tuesday night at Staples Center. Jonathan Quick saved all 27 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season and 15th of his career.

Quick improved to 3-0-1 on the season and has saved 119 of 124 shots this season, a 96.0% save percentage.

Simon Gagne had a three point night for the Kings, scoring two goals and assisting on another. Gagne's three goals on the season are second on the team to Anze Kopitar's four. Kopitar's third period goal on Tuesday night pushed the Kings' lead to 4-0, and he assisted on Gagne's second goal with a nifty lob pass over the St. Louis defense, giving Gagne a breakaway.

Defenseman Slava Voynov made his NHL debut on Tuesday night, taking the roster spot of Drew Doughty, who is on injured reserve and is out 7-10 days with an upper body injury. The 21-year old Voynov got 20 minutes of ice time.

The Kings' victory was their first over the Blues since October 10, 2009. The Kings travel to Arizona to battle the Phoenix Coyotes on Thursday night.
