The Los Angeles Kings are back on U.S. soil, ready to play their first game in American this season on Thursday evening in New Jersey against the Devils. The Kings made a roster move on Wednesday, acquiring forward Stefan Legein and a sixth-round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft from the Philadelphia Flyers for future considerations.
The soon-to-be 24-year old Legein will report to the Manchester Monarchs, the Kings' affiliate in the AHL. He was selected in the second round of the 2007 NHL Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Kings travel to Philadelphia to battle the Flyers on Saturday.
After missing the Kings' first two games in Europe, left winger Dustin Penner is expected to start on Thursday in New Jersey, on a line with Mike Richards and Dustin Brown. "Our top two lines are pretty interchangeable," Penner told Rich Hammond of LAKings.com. "We’re pretty deep down the middle and down the wing, so whatever combination ends up working best for the team, I think that’s what we’ll stick with, and it’s going to be my first game, so it’s going to be interesting to see how we work as a line."
