The pre-season window for European Clubs, and the midseason window for US and Canadian club has been open since June, but as of yet, neither the Los Angeles Galaxy nor Chivas USA have made any transactions. That might all change tomorrow morning, with Chivas rumored to be announcing the acquisition of midfielder Laurent Courtois. Courtois has been plying his trade for French Ligue 1 club Grenoble Foot 38.
Also rumored is the acquisition of Brazilian David Junior Lopes, currently with Romanian club FC Universitatea Craiova. Both players were reported as practicing with Chivas on Wednesday by Adam Serrano. Serrano later tweeted that both players had been signed, but no official announcement has been made as of yet. Courtois played left wing at the Chivas practice. He tweeted a picture of his locker, so this signing is probably as good as done.
The Los Angeles Galaxy are much less likely to pick up anyone in the silly season. With David Beckham, Landon Donovan, and Juan Pablo Angel all making DP salaries, there is little room left under the cap. The Galaxy did make an emergency signing earlier this year, bringing in Kyle Davies when Leonardo's injury was deemed season ending.
The US/Canadian midseason transfer window closes August 15th. Most European windows will remain open through the end of August.
