LA Galaxy Set To Take On Colorado Rapids

The Los Angeles Galaxy have won the Supporter's Shield twice in their history, 1998 and 2002. They have a chance to clinch their third ever Shield this weekend at Home Depot Center, with either a win over the Colorado Rapids or a draw and a draw between FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake. Winning the Shield would ensure the Galaxy of home field advantage throughout the playoffs, which in MLS means they'd have the second leg of the Western Conference semi-final and final. It would also mean an automatic berth in the 2011-2012 CONCACAF Champions League.

Here's a look at how the Standings shake out right now:

Were the playoffs to start today, the Galaxy would face Seattle (#4 in the West) in a home and home starting in Seattle the week after the MLS season ends, and in Los Angeles the following week. San Jose takes the third Eastern spot as a wildcard, while the final Eastern spot is still up for grabs between this weeks opponent Colorado and Kansas City. In MLS, only the first two spots are conference based, the other four are all wildcard spots.
