MLB Standings: Dodgers Focused On NL West & Wild Card

The Los Angeles Dodgers open a three-game weekend series at AT&T Park against the first-place San Francisco Giants on Friday night, but the Dodgers are focused on more than just the National League West.

The Dodgers trail the Giants by five games in the loss column with 24 games remaining, so Los Angeles will have its work cut out for it if it plans to win the division. But the team does play the Giants six more times, so don't count them out just yet.

National League West Standings
Team W-L Pct GB
Giants 77-60 .562 ---
Dodgers 73-65 .529
D-Backs 68-70 .493

Perhaps a more realistic goal for the Dodgers is to shoot for one of the wild card spots. The Dodgers are just 1½ games behind the St. Louis Cardinals for the second wild card, a much easier deficit to erase in the final four weeks of the season.

National League Wild Card Standings
Team W-L Pct GB
Braves 78-60 .565 +3½
Cardinals 74-63 .540 ---
Pirates 72-64 .529
Dodgers 73-65 .529

The Dodgers host the Cardinals from Sept. 14-17.
