Matt Kemp and Juan Rivera had a pair of home runs, Aaron Harang pitched 5.1 scoreless innings and the Los Angeles Dodgers topped the San Diego Padres by the score of 8-2 at Petco Park on Wednesday.
The Dodgers offense got started early and refused to quit, using RBI singles from Adrian Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez in the first inning to get on the board, followed by another Gonzalez RBI single in the third to pour it on. Rivera would launch his eighth homer of the season in the fourth inning off Clayton Richard (L 14-13) who lasted just 3.2 innings before being yanked by skipper Bud Black.
Kemp would hit a two-RBI double in the fourth to make it 6-0 Dodgers, and followed it up with his 20 homer of the season to make it 8-0. San Diego would get two back in the seventh inning, but it was too little too late.
Harang (W 10-10) got his record back to .500 after allowing just four hits and four walks during his outing this evening, striking out four Padres in the process.
Los Angeles goes for the series win Sunday night, with first pitch set 7:05 p.m. PT.
