Dodgers Place Scott Elbert On DL, Recall Shawn Tolleson

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Wednesday that they have placed lefty Scott Elbert on the 15-day disabled list with elbow inflammation in his throwing arm and recalled right-handed pitcher Shawn Tolleson from Single-A Rancho Cucamonga.

Elbert has been solid since his last stint on the DL, which ended Aug. 19. He made four appearances while allowing no runs during that span, and is 1-1 with a 2.20 ERA in 43 games for L.A. this season.

As for Tolleson, he's held opponents scoreless in 13 of his last 14 outings (13.0 IP), posting a1.38 ERA since July 24. He also has kept opposing hitters in check with a .186 batting average, with an even more impressive .106 BA against righties. Tolleson is 1-0 with a 3.42 ERA in 25 appearances for the Dodgers. He last saw action this past Sunday against the Marlins, allowing two runs in 1.1 innings of work.
