Chad Billingsley may be "out for a while" according to Los Angeles Dodgers General Manager Ned Colletti, as reported by SB Nation's Eric Stephens. The GM mentioned Billingsley in a press conference to announce the blockbuster nine-player trade between the Dodgers and the Red Sox that brought Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford and Josh Beckett to Los Angeles.
Billingsley has been on the day-to-day disabled list with a reported "sore arm." His last outing was Aug. 24, when he went just 3 1/3 innings against the Miami Marlins. The 28-year-old right-hander left the game after feeling pain in his right elbow. Billingsley's injury may have given the Dodger front office extra motivation to get a deal done involving Beckett.
As a full-time starting pitcher for the past five seasons, Billingsley has been effective for the Dodgers. This year he is 10-9 with a 128 strikeouts in 25 starts.
