Red Sox-Dodgers Trade Finalized: LA To Receive Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford And Josh Beckett, Per Report

The Boston Red Sox have traded Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto to the Los Angeles Dodgers, according to the Boston Herald. The Red Sox receive Allen Webster, Rubby de la Rosa, James Loney, Jerry Sands and Ivan DeJesus, Jr. in exchange.

The Dodgers take a significant risk that could pay off in a big way. Beckett and Crawford both have history of strong production to go with more recent sub-par seasons, and Gonzalez had an extremely strong first year in Boston (.338 BA, .957 OPS) before slipping in 2012.

The Red Sox save substantial money by unloading several major contracts. As MLB Nation points out, the deal is expected to save Boston around $275 million.
