RHP Ryan O'Sullivan Sent By Dodgers To Phillies To Complete Joe Blanton Trade

The Los Angeles Dodgers on Thursday sent right-handed pitcher Ryan O'Sullivan to the Philadelphia Phillies as the player to be named later to complete their trade for starting pitcher Joe Blanton.

The Dodgers acquired Blanton on August 3 after claiming him off waivers from the Phillies. Blanton is 0-1 in two starts so far with the Dodgers, and he starts their series finale on Thursday afternoon against the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. Blanton leads the major leagues with just 1.31 walks per nine innings.

O'Sullivan was drafted by the Dodgers in the fourth round of the 2011 draft. he signed on August 16, 2011, which made Thursday the first day he was eligible to be dealt, as drafted players have to be with their team for at least one year. O'Sullivan, 21, was 8-6 with a 3.05 ERA in 29 games, including nine starts, with Class A Great Lakes and advanced Class A Rancho Cucamonga this season.
