Dodgers Vs. Pirates Game Preview: Joe Blanton Starts Finale As L.A. Eyes Sweep

After the Los Angeles Dodgers took the first two games against the Pittsburgh Pirates, they'll look to close out the series with a road sweep on Thursday behind Joe Blanton at PNC Park.

Blanton (8-10, 4.61) is making just his third start for L.A, after coming over from the Phillies at the July 31 trade deadline. He got roughed up in his last start, lasting just five innings while allowing four earned runs with three strikeouts.

The Pirates will send out A.J. Burnett (14-4, 3.32), who has excelled this year. He won four starts in a row until his last outing, taking the loss after 5 2/3 innings of five-run ball.

The Dodgers have won nine consecutive games against the Pirates, including winning all six of their meetings this year. Thursday will be their final meeting of year. Los Angeles is 7-0 in the state of Pennsylvania this season (4-0 in Philadelphia June 4-7), and 12-1 in games played in Eastern time zone.

The first pitch is set for 1:05 p.m. PT with coverage on Fox Sports West.
