The Los Angeles Dodgers have had their share of injuries this season, and may have suffered another one on Saturday night in Miami. Jerry Hairston Jr. left Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins with tightness in his left hip.
It is unclear just how Hairston injured his hip, but he did have a ground ball bounce off his glove for a double in the sixth inning. Hairston was removed in favor of Luis Cruz on defense in the next inning.
Hairston went 1-for-3 at the plate on Sunday, and is hitting .474 (9-for-19) in his career against Miami starter Ricky Nolasco, with five doubles and a triple.
Hairston told Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times that the hip problem has been ongoing for some time, but that "It's one of those things where you have to manage it better and I will."
On the season Hairston is hitting .273/.342/.387 in 78 games, and he has started games at third base, second base, and left field for the Dodgers this year. He has been splitting time of late with Luis Cruz at third.
Should Cruz have to miss any time, that could mean more playing time for Juan Uribe, who has become the forgotten man on the bench. Uribe last started on July 22, and he has accumulated four plate appearances in the last 20 days, including grounding out as a pinch hitter on Saturday.
